If you want to keep your teeth white, shiny, and cavity-free, stop snacking after dinner!
That’s the gist of research from the University of Copenhagen. Which found that a piece of fruit does as much damage as a bowl of ice cream. The reason? Because we need saliva to remove leftover food particles from our mouth. But since we produce much less saliva at night, the sugars and acids from foods and drinks stick to our teeth longer, which can lead to serious damage and staining.
So, if you eat or drink at night – make sure you wait at least half an hour for your tooth enamel to re-harden, then brush before bed.
