To be a better person, read a fictional novel!
The University of Toronto analyzed the relationship between reading novels and empathy. And they found people who read fiction are better at interpreting people’s emotions. That’s because reading allows you to get out of your own head - and into the mindset, emotions and life of someone else. And when you live through someone else’s experiences vicariously - even a character in a book - you start understanding things from a different perspective. And that helps you understand people, and the world, better.
