Being sleep-deprived makes us hungry!
Being sleep-deprived makes us hungrier, because we need extra calories to power through our day. According to King’s College London, if we get fewer than 6 hours of sleep, the next day we scarf down nearly 400 additional calories - usually junk food. Because a lack of sleep throws off our hunger hormones, making them spike. And since a lack of sleep makes us moody and irritable, we tend to reach for high-fat, high-calorie foods to make us feel better.
